Biography
Saliou Sarr aka Alibeta (1983, Sénégal) is a curator and multidisciplinary artist. Born into a family of musicians, Alibeta explores various sonic and visual territories: from Afro-jazz to Serer songs (ndioup), from Afro-roots to Mandingo songs, he plays on the purest West African influences, uses with humility the words of the Dogon masters, dazzled by their cosmogony. His curatorial practice is based on an exploratory movement that aims to reveal the local imaginaries that shape ways in which we live together and that explores questions around communal relationality. Alibeta's main focus in the last two years has been KENU Lab’Oratoire des Imaginaires, a community-led interdisciplinary laboratory at the cross-section between arts, culture, and research which was founded in 2020 and is based in the heart of the Ouakam neighborhood in Dakar, Senegal.
