Anita Lackenberger
Biography
Anita Lackenberger (1961, St. Pölten) is an Austrian historian and filmmaker. After graduating from high school, she studied history at the University of Vienna and started to write books on various topics in a historical context in the 1990s. As a feminist, she focuses in particular on the role of women in documentary films. Between 2014 and 2018, she released her two feature films, “Vals” and “Ein wilder Sommer - die Wachausaga”, in which she was not only responsible for the direction, but also the screenplay. 2021, her docudrama “Das Land, der Bischof und das Böse” about the St. Pölten bishop Michael Memelauer premiered. This was followed in the same year by the docu-series “The Fuggers in the Silver Empire”. Anita Lackenberger lives in Tyrol and Lower Austria.
