Arlo Parks
Biography
Anaïs Marinho (2000, London), known as Arlo Parks, is a British singer, songwriter and poet. Parks fuses indie pop with soul and a touch of folk and trip-hop, in moments of downright fragile sound and highly lyrical lyrics, when she sings about mental illness, deceit and betrayal or the feeling of being an outsider. Her debut album "Collapsed in Sunbeams", which was awarded the Mercury Prize, is a fascinating collection of carefully crafted songs filled with pop and literary references. In 2023 followed her second album "My Soft Machine". She has received some of the most prestigious music awards in the world - including a BRIT Award, a BBC Award and three AIM Independent Music Awards. The queer singer with Nigerian, Chadian and French roots expresses the search for identity, challenges and hopes of an entire generation through her personal experiences.
