Christian Philipp Müller
Biography
Christian Philipp Müller (1957, Biel) is a Berlin-based Swiss conceptual artist whose collaborative, interdisciplinary and site-specific projects explore themes ranging from social and aesthetic concerns to design, national history and the institutional framing of culture. Müller is a leading figure in institutional critique and socially engaged art practice. After moving to New York in 1992, Müller worked at Colin de Land's Soho Gallery and represented Austria at the 1993 Venice Biennale with "Green Border". In the early 2000s, he created site-specific artworks on New York university campuses. In 2008, Müller took part in Manifesta 7 and reflected on divided national identities in "Space Rendezvous". After moving to Berlin in 2011, Müller was Dean of the University of Art and Design in Kassel from 2011 to 2013 and taught as Professor of Performative Sculpture from 2013 to 2015. Current exhibitions include solo and group shows.
