EsRap
Biography
The siblings Esra and Enes Özmen form an Austrian hip hop duo that deals with the topics of identity, racism and growing up with a migration background in their partly german and partly turkish lyrics. They grew up in the Viennese district of Ottakring and call their band “EsRAP”, addressing issues such as being foreign in one's own country and resisting the male-dominated hip hop world. Contrary to the classic stereotypes of gender roles, Esra takes on the dominant role of fast rhymes in their songs, while her brother Enes impresses with his sensitive voice in the melodic vocal parts.
EsRAP's live presence has grown steadily in recent years. In addition to regular appearances throughout Austria, the two can also be seen live in Germany at gigs in Berlin, Hamburg and the Ruhrpott. Highlights include two appearances at the opening of the Wiener Festwochen (2018, 2019) and two appearances at Popfest (2018, 2019).
