Julian Warner
Biography
Julian Warner is a German-British artist and curator. As a performer, Warner is known under the stage name Fehler Kuti and publishes anti-racist pop and essay performances. The cultural anthropologist works at the Institute for Cultural Anthropology at the University of Göttingen – his focus is on Black European Studies, Racism and Pop Culture Research. Warner has co-curated performing arts festivals for Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm, Münchner Kammerspiele and Berlin's Sophiensaele. In 2021, he designed a large-scale project in public space for the international theater festival Spielart on contemporary discourses of fear ("Global Angst: Parlament. Parade. Ritual."). Julian Warner is the editor of an anthology on questions of postcolonial critique in Germany: "After Europe. Beiträge zur deckolonialen Kritik" (Verbrecher Verlag, 2021) and was a visiting professor for dramaturgy at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design in 2022-23. Since 2023 he has been the artistic director of the Brechtfestival Augsburg 2023-25.
