Lola Arias
Biography
Lola Arias (1976, Argentina) is an artist, writer, theater and film director. Her work brings together people from different backgrounds (war veterans, former communists, children of
migrants, etc.) in theater, film, literature, music and visual art projects. She studied literature at the University of Buenos Aires and dramaturgy at the Escuela de Artes Dramáticas (Buenos Aires), the
Royal Court Theatre (London) and Casa de América (Madrid). In 2014 she completed the film
laboratory program at Universidad Di Tella (Buenos Aires), one of Argentina's most prestigious film programs. Lola Arias' works play with the overlap between reality and fiction. She wrote and directed various plays, her most recent ones are Minefield (2016), Atlas des Kommunismus (2016), What they want to hear (2018), Futureland (2019), Mother Tongue (2022).
Her first film Theatre of War (2018) was selected for the 68th Berlinale Film Festival Forum
and received several awards.
