María Galindo
Biography
María Galindo (1964, La Paz) is an artist, performer, activist, author and co-founder of the Bolivian collective Mujeres Creando (Women Creating). She brings the little-noticed perspective of indigenous women into a dialog with practices of non-white feminism, anarchism and punk and criticizes the prevailing neocolonialist, neoliberal and religious structures. In 2013, she published one of her most important works, "No se puede descolonizar sin despatriarcalizar", in which she criticizes patriarchy as the basis of all domination, including racism. María Galindo is one of the best-known cult figures of Latin American feminism and has created a radical artistic practice over the last 15 years. With her anarcho-feminist performative actions, she has caused high-profile scandals in Bolivia.
