Biography
Marie Spaemann (1988, Vienna) is an Austrian cellist and singer who moves unconventionally and regardless of boundaries between classical music, soul and jazz. Marie Spaemann won the international Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach in 2010 with her cello playing. A few years later, she toured Germany and Austria as the solo support act and singer for the electroswing pioneers [dunkelbunt]. She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras (North German Philharmonic Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, etc.) and is regularly invited to international festivals and events, such as "More Ohr Less" in Austria, the "Podium" and "Fusion Festival" in Germany, "Puplinge Classique" in France, the South Korean "Classic Garden" and the "Konzerthaus International" in New York City. In recent years, Spaemann has performed with her solo and duo formation (Christian Bakanic, accordion) at the Amsterdam Cello Biennale, the Tyrolean Festival Erl, the Düsseldorf Festival, the Berio Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Porgy and Bess Vienna, among others.
