Biography

Necati Öziri (1988, Germany) studied philosophy, German studies and modern German literature. He was a scholarship holder of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and taught formal logic at the Ruhr University in Bochum, but also worked at Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin. Between 2013 and 2017, he became part of the dramaturgy team at Berlin's Maxim Gorki Theater, which led to his interest in theater. In May 2017, in the course of a writing workshop, he created his first work“Get Deutsch or Die Tryin'”, which premiered in the Maxim Gorki Theater. He worked as a dramaturge at the Berliner Festspiele Theatertreffen between 2018 and 2022, and was invited to the 45th Bachmannpreis in 2021, where he presented his prose work “Morgen wache ich auf und dann beginnt das Leben”, which won the Kelag Prize and the Audience Award.
