Tzadik Artists

Tzadik Records is an American record label from New York. The label was established in 1995 by composer and saxophonist John Zorn together with Kazunori Sugiyama and specializes in avant-garde and experimental music. Tzadik – a Hebrew word meaning “righteous person” – gathers most of Zorn’s prolific discography under one roof. Tzadik has released over 800 albums by a variety of artists with diverse musical backgrounds, including free improvisation, jazz, noise, klezmer, rock, and experimental composition. The label’s subdivisions offer a glimpse of the terrain covered: the Composer Series, featuring new classical concert music; Radical Jewish Culture, comprising the explosion of music investigating Jewish traditions; New Japan, plunging into the Japanese underground; Oracles, spotlighting women in experimental music; Lunatic Fringe, a corner for the offbeat and fringe-dwelling; and others.
