Biography
Vivarium Studio is a Parisian theater group founded in 2003 by director Philippe Quesne, born in 1970. The heterogeneous group of artists consisting of actors, sculptors, dancers, musicians and a dog made its debut in 2003 with "La démangeaison des ailes". In highly elaborately designed stage spaces, Quesne condenses dreams and the figurative, melody and language, space and light into musical comedies full of absurdity. The latest large-scale theater creation "The Garden of Earthly Delights" is a large-scale retrospective of his more than 20-year collaboration with the Vivarium Studio. The French director was inspired by the famous and enigmatic 500-year-old triptych "Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronymus Bosch, which is known for its fantastic allegories and chimerical figures between hell and paradise – and brings together the most important protagonists and motifs from his previous works, weaving them into a large theatrical panorama.
