Description

From Fri, 23.08 to Fri, 13.09, the Performative Documentation Center "ICfDaRoSitCotCCPaS" - or "International Center for Documentation and Research of Subcultures in the Context of the Contemporary Culture Politics and Society" for short - will open its doors as part of STARTraumverwandlung#5. During this period, the STARTraum will be transformed into a participatory and interactive installation: a temporary academic office as a documentation center with changing fictitious doors to the most established international art institutions and windows to a communal utopia. Visitors are invited to visit the participatory exhibition and take part in collective artistic research in the workshops. Together we "write" history and reflect on the position of subcultures and the independent scene in society. The project follows a playful approach, through over-performance and exaggerated quotations we question social norms and structures, while at the same time striving for fun, community and collective work.

Lia Quirina (STP), Kike Chueca Simon (BCN), Viola Voldrich (VIE, CZE), Ludwig Merza (VIE, Krumbach) and Anna Netouschek (VIE) are part of the international research team.

Vernissage: Fri, 23.08.24, 18:00

Official opening with performances, program presentation, pianist Alex Rovira (BCN, VIE), DJ Platzhirsch & DJ Werner

In the spatial installation "Backdoors", Kike Chueca Simon copies the codes of large art institutions and questions the gap between subculture and high culture. The participatory installation "Collective Windows" by Lia Quirina invites collectives and visitors to enter into dialog and share thoughts on a collectively conceived utopia.

The performative interventions during the event days play with the codes of high culture and question the heteronormative structures of the cultural landscape. Guests will include the renowned director of MAKBLA Barcelona, as well as the musicians* DJ Platzhirsch and DJ Werner, who have long since gone down in Lower Austrian cultural history.

In three workshop formats, we invite visitors to become temporary archaeologists and scientists themselves:

"Concealing and Revealing" with Kike Chueca Simon In the workshop led by the very famous and extremely scientific Dr. Kike, valuable objects related to subculture will be encased in a mixture of plaster and sand. Participants will later take on the role of a* temporary archaeologist and explore the covered objects from new perspectives using archaeological techniques. Dates "Concealing and Revealing":

- Sat, 24.08 (16-20:00)

- Sun, 01.09 (16-20:00)

- Sun, 08.09 (16-20:00)

"Archaeology for subculture" with Lia Quirina "What do you know about the history of the Löwinnenhof*? What is the spirit and history of the place? What traces of subcultures can be found?" Together we collect small parts of the objects and places to be examined - these are archived and cataloged. Memories of the objects and the history of the place will be immortalized in the Subculture Archaeology Catalogue (Volume 3). Dates "Archaeology for Subculture":

- Sun, 25.08 (16-20:00)

- Fri, 30.08 (16-20:00)

"Collective Cassette Archive - VHS Paradise" with Ludwig A. K. Merza The "Multimedia Video Analogue Station" service point offers you the opportunity to archive your favourite digital videos (in connection with the Löwinnenhof*) as VHS cassettes in the STARTraum. Your videos are then sent through various adapters and devices until they are played on the magnetic tape of the VHS cassette and thus archived in analog form for future generations. Dates "Collective cassette archive":

- Thu, 29.08 (18-22:00)

- Sat, 31.08 (14-18:00)

- Fri, 06.09 (18-22:00)
