Alfa Romeo und die elektrische Giulietta
WunderbaumDescription
For decades, the Italian car brand Alfa Romeo has stood for a luxurious, creative and cosmopolitan lifestyle. Thanks to its elegance and sporty character, the brand was very popular with prominent actors and aristocrats in the 1950s and 1960s. But are such fast sports cars still legitimate in times of climate change or are they rather detrimental to a modern image? Alfa Romeo plans to present its first electric car this year:
In the play "Alfa Romeo and the electric Giulietta", the painful turning point from petrol to electricity is negotiated with a great deal of humour and self-irony. A group of European Alfa Romeo enthusiasts meet regularly at their club to celebrate their passion for the Italian car brand. However, a dark cloud hangs over one of these fun-filled club evenings: their conversations revolve around what the energy transition means for Alfa Romeo, a car that has symbolised freedom and youth for decades. How do you prepare for such a shift away from fossil fuels without becoming a fossil yourself?
"Alfa Romeo and the electric Giulietta" is a tragicomedy about the passion for cars and at the same time about social insecurity in times of multiple upheavals. The idea came from the Dutch theatre collective Wunderbaum, who have been working together successfully for more than 20 years. Their latest theatre work was invited to the renowned Berliner Theatertreffen 2024.
In their co-production with the Landestheater Niederösterreich and the Tangente Festival, they bring together an international group of actors and an opera singer for a musical-theatrical production about the relationship between people and cars.
