The St. Pölten capital region

With the Tangente St. Pölten, the federal state capital is experiencing a significant cultural boost. This will enable cultural tourism networks and cooperations that reach far into the region around St. Pölten – into the so-called capital region.

It encompasses cities, municipalities and districts around St. Pölten that actively participate in cultural tourism with a high­-quality cultural programme. These are primarily the Pielachtal and the wine region Traisental. But they also include Schallaburg castle in the Melk Alpenvorland, Lilienfeld abbey in the Traisen-Gölsental and Göttweig abbey on the edge of the Wachau.
